Looking for summer research volunteers!

Interested in spending your summer (and possibly fall) doing plant research in and around Minneapolis and St. Paul?

Cities tend to be warmer, differ in air quality, and have substantially more disturbances; how does this impact plant populations in cities? Do plant populations get adapted to cities? To test this I will perform common garden experiments measuring plant traits in cities and neighboring rural areas. This work will also include opportunities to participate in science outreach by working with high school students. You can also have independent projects related to the bigger question of plant population differences in urban vs. rural environments.

Interested students should contact Mohamed Yakub (yakub002@umn.edu) by May 10th with a copy of their CV and a short letter (one paragraph) describing their interest in the project or research interests.
