The Biology Program has approximately 15 open positions of Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Biology 1001,1003 or 1009 in the Fall 2014 semester. The essential qualifications for these positions are advanced undergraduate standing (junior or senior carrying at least six credits) and completion of at least Biol 2002 (or equivalent). Successful candidates typically have more experience in biology through additional coursework, jobs, or research.
Depending on scheduling, you will be teaching either Biol 1001, 1003 or 1009 where you would be leading two laboratory sections. The sections are each two hours long.
The pay is $10.84 per hour with the expectation that you would be working 8 - 12 hours per week, on average, with some weeks being slightly heavier and some slightly lighter loads. TA training occurs the week before the semester begins during the week of August 25, 2014 so you must be back on campus that week. There are also weekly meetings for the course on Mondays (1009) or Fridays (1001 and 1003) that you would be required to attend. There will be some flexibility in the scheduling of these weekly meetings, and we will work with TA schedules to best accommodate all.
