Dr. Jon Gottesman, director of the Office of Biomedical Graduate Research, Education and Training, is the 2014 recipient of the Lillian H. Williams Award. He was recognized by the Office for Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action for his work to enhance the quality and diversity of applicants to the Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics, and Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology and Genetics graduate programs.

The award is named in honor of Lillian H. Williams, the founding director of the University of Minnesota’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action, and was established in 1986 to recognize individuals and units within the University community who exemplify Williams' spirit and commitment to equal opportunity and affirmative action.

Gottesman also serves as co-director of the Life Sciences Summer Undergraduate Research Program (LSSURP) where he provides GRE exam preparation and other graduate school application training.
