New data storage and file sharing procedures from CMSP

Dear CMSP users,

Here are a few changes in data storage and file sharing procedures at CMSP.

  • TINT was officially be taken offline on July 31, 2015
  • From August 1st, 2015, users wanting access the data will be archived and can only be transferred upon request. Please see the User's Guide for more information.

As you may know, for a number of years we have been using a data storage infrastructure called TINT, hosted by the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI).  We have decommissioned TINT.  Among other things, a main reason behind this change is that TINT's structure does not adhere to the UofM policy on data management, which the CMSP is adopting.   As stated in this policy (http://www.policy.umn.edu/Policies/Research/RESEARCHDATA.html), UofM researchers are responsible for the storage and management of their own research data.

Currently, data is being transferred to PI accounts maintained by OIT.  The CMSP staff is working along with members of the University of Minnesota Informatics Institute (UMII), Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI) and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to store data and share it with UofM researchers.

Thank you for your continued use of CMSP services.

Sincerely,

Tim Griffin, Faculty Director

Pratik Jagtap, Managing Director
