Life before CBS…

Before CBS, I worked in college recruitment at the University of St. Thomas, followed by graduate recruitment roles focused on access, outreach, and student-centered support at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Across these experiences, I’ve worked closely with prospective and current students, particularly first-generation and historically underrepresented students. Outside of higher ed, I’ve also been deeply involved in community and event work in the Twin Cities, which continues to shape how I think about belonging, relationship-building, and showing up for people beyond formal systems.

Adjusting to college life…

As a first-generation college student, adjusting to college meant learning how to navigate systems that weren’t always built with me in mind. I found my people through community and was heavily involved in the multicultural community on campus, which became a major source of support and belonging. I also served on boards with VIIVNCAUS, a Hmong women’s group, and those leadership and community spaces played a huge role in shaping both my personal and professional path.

Favorite part of the job?

Building genuine relationships with students and helping them feel seen, supported, and capable especially when they’re unsure of themselves or their next steps. I love being someone students can come to with questions big or small and helping them make sense of the university on their own terms.

Current passions, hobbies, things that give you joy?

Community work, creative projects, and bringing people together whether that’s through events, shared meals, or meaningful conversations. Outside of work, I love music, exploring local spots, spending time with loved ones, and hanging out with my pets: my corgi, Ube, and my black cat, Ponzu.

Be on the lookout for…

A friendly check-in and occasional photos of Ube and Ponzu. I’m always here to support students who may need connection or encouragement, even if they don’t always ask for it.
