A one-on-one research opportunity for undergraduates to work with a mentor.
The research mentor program presents transfer students with the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge while working with a mentor in a University research lab on a unique research project. Research topics are chosen by the graduate students, postdocs, or faculty members who serve as HHMI Research Mentors. In the fall, mentors present their research topic in BIOL 3001 Nature of Science and Research. Interested students chose a project that intrigues them and then interview with the mentor for that project. If it is a good fit, the student begins working as an HHMI undergraduate researcher in the spring. Undergraduate researchers and their research mentor will work in the lab of the primary investigator.
