Information for prospective students

I am currently senior members of three graduate faculties at the University of Minnesota, Ecology, Evolution and Behavior, Conservation Biology and Water Resources Science. If you are interested in graduate studies with me at the University of Minnesota, I recommend that you first visit the website of the graduate program that interests you, paying particular attention to the admission requirements, which are quite competitive. Then I suggest that you check out my current research interests and some of my recent publications. If you feel that we have compatible interests, feel free to contact me by email at shobbie@umn.edu.

When you contact me, please let me know something about your background, your research interests, and your research experiences. Please include a copy of your CV. You might also find it useful to contact some of the graduate students whom I currently advise, or who have recently completed their degrees (see People in the Hobbie Lab for contact information).

This document communicates the expectations that I have for graduate students who join my lab, as well as the expectations that students should have for me as a mentor and advisor.

I will probably accept a student for Fall 2016. If you feel you have a very strong application, please feel free to contact me.
