Computer Backup for CBS Undergrads (Limited Pilot)

About the Program

Because we've all felt the pain of lost data and want students to have one less thing to worry about, CBS-RLT has created a pilot program to offer undergraduate CBS students a 4 year license to CrashPlan at no additional cost.  This year, the pilot is limited to incoming freshmen for the 2014-2015 academic year.

What is CrashPlan?

CrashPlan is a backup service that offers unlimited online backup with enterprise-class hardware and military-grade security to help safeguard your data.  CrashPlan automatically backs up your data at regular intervals to secure servers that can be accessed from anywhere on the web. If something ever happens to your hard drive or computer, you can rest assured knowing that your important files are backed up safely online.  Your protected data is also accessible from anywhere.  If you forget to grab a file before you leave home, you can simply retrieve your it from the CrashPlan website or any device with the CrashPlan mobile app.

Request a License

To request your license, please fill out and submit this form.  Within 1-2 business days, a license key and installation instructions will be emailed to you.  Instructions for installation can also be found here.

Once you receive your license key, you will receive full technical support from CrashPlan, who can assist with installation troubles or questions about configuring the software.

If you have any questions or feedback about the program, please contact cbs-rlt@umn.edu.
