Installing JMP on Windows 7 or Mac OSX 10.5 or higher

CBS-IT now has a site license for the JMP statistical software package. JMP is used to combine statistical data sets with images, enabling both the visualization and graphical exploration of data. The use of both Mac and PC versions of JMP and JMP Pro on University owned computers in BMBB, GCD, EEB and PBio is covered by the license.

How to install JMP on a PC running Windows 7

Finding the files

1. Acquire the JMP installation files by mapping the CBS server to your computer. If you need a guide on this, follow this one.

You also have the option to download the files from the web if you would like instead of mapping the drives. Use Webfiles for this purpose. Use your x500 and password to log in, and you will browse the same folders as shown in this guide.

2. Find the JMP Installation folder via the following path: USERS -> JMP_Pro -> 12_0_1 -> Windows

3.  Copy "JMP 12 Software Depot.zip" to a local directory (e.g. your Downloads folder)

4.  Extract the "JMP 12 Software Depot.zip" License Files folder to a local directory on your computer.

5.  Right-click setup.exe from JMP 12 Software Depot -> JMP -> JMP_Pro -> 12_0_1 -> Windows on your computer and choose "Run as Administrator".  (If you do not have administrative privileges on your machine please contact 1-Help at help@umn.edu to be granted temporary administrative privileges)

6. The installation will begin. If you do not have .NET Framework 4 installed on your computer, JMP may ask you to install it.  You must have it installed in order for JMP to install.

Installing JMP

When you choose your install location, you will see this. If you are running 64-bit Windows, you will select them as shown here, and vice versa for 32bit. You can find your bit level by going to Start > Computer (right-click) > Properties.
