Projects

When I think of projects, I look to (1) make some difference in the world, (2) help others, and (3) have some fun. My projects may look diverse, but they are largely one thing — computational and mathematical methods applied to biological problems.

  1. Methods of microscale modeling
  2. Terrestrial carbon storage in peatlands
  3. The earth's great temperature cycles
  4. Tracking historical climate
  5. Wildlife and bioenergy
  6. Dynamics of disease, including mad cow and HIV
  7. Longevity and stewardship of data
  8. Artificial neural networks
  9. Small mammal behavior
  10. Sweepnets and insect sampling
  11. Perennial grains
  12. Prairie and wetland conservation
  13. Evolutionary fitness landscapes
