Here you will find a collection of updates regarding information sessions available to CBS students.

Pre-Health Transfer Student Application Prep Workshops

Transfer students interested in pre-health are encouraged connect with the Pre-Health Student Resource Center during two workshops. 

Transfer students will work with PHSRC counselors to:

  • Review our action plan tool and how to use it to get organized.
  • Talk about short term and longer term goals for their application portfolio. 
  • Review strategies to get connected to valuable experiences.

Cost of Medical School: An Open Discussion

It is no secret that medical school comes with a high price tag. Come join the Minnesota Medical Leaders (MML) student group for an open discussion on how the cost of applying and attending medical school is a barrier to increasing diversity in the field. Following the discussion, there will be time to ask questions about our student group and learn a little about what we do. We will also be providing pizza!

CBS Pre-Health Opportunities Fair

Connect with representatives from multiple local and on-campus organizations to explore opportunities and programs related to becoming a competitive applicant for health professional school. Explore opportunities for volunteering, clinical experiences, internships, research, study abroad trips, and gap year opportunities.This is an open house event, open to all CBS students. Hosted by CBS Career Services in collaboration with Nature of Life. 

Workshop for Future STEM Teachers

Steering STEM is an event for future K-12 teachers. This event focuses around combating bias in STEM education and providing tools and resources for teaching STEM. It will include a speaker and discussion, a panel of current STEM students, and hands-on practice with science experiments that could be used in a classroom. RSVP Here

Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Graduate Program Open House

Drop by anytime to learn more about research and career opportunities at the intersection of biological, computer and data sciences at the U and beyond. Learn about BICB and network with current graduate students from a wide range of research disciplines. The afternoon will include a poster session from current students, program information session, Q&A panel, and tours of UMN-TC labs and core facilities

 

HECUA Information Sessions

HECUA Information Session

  • Wednesday, March 6, 12:00-1:00 p.m.; 303 Coffman (course instructors will be attending) 

HECUA is a social justice based program where students take courses in the community paired with an internship. HECUA is great for students:

  • who are looking for an internship
  • want to get more involved in the community
  • who are interested in social justice 
  • looking for something different

HECUA has four main tracks:

Sustainability and Energy Expo

Calling all students! Do you have a project or research with a sustainability angle? Present your work at the 2019 Sustainability and Energy Expo on Friday, April 5th in Rapson Hall! Presentations can take the form of lightning talks, posters or multi-media/creative works and there's a chance you could win $150! Submissions will be accepted through March 8! Apply now!

Indiana University School of Optometry Student Recruitment Reception

The IU School of Optometry is hosting a student recruitment reception on Monday, March 4 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Twin Cities 400 Tavern.  This reception will feature a short informational presentation and a question and answer session with an IU alumni, current 4th year students and Dr. Kim Kohne the Associate Dean of Students. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served. The reception is a great opportunity to ask questions about IUSO and learn a little more about the program.

University of Minnesota School of Dentistry Open House

The University of Minnesota's School of Dentistry Open House for prospective students on Saturday, June 15, 2019. This event will include hands-on activities, information sessions, and an opportunity to connect with current students, faculty and staff in the dental hygiene (BSDH), dental therapy (BSDH/MDT), and dentistry (DDS) programs. The open house will be at Moos Tower (515 Delaware St. SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455) and will include separate events for students in high school and in college.
