NSF Fellowship for Graduate Education - Info Session and Summer Writing Group

If you are applying to graduate school this fall, consider also applying to the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP).The NSF GRFP provides a three-year annual stipend of $34,000 along with a $12,000 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees (paid to the institution), opportunities for international research and professional development, and the freedom to conduct your own research at any accredited U.S. institution of graduate education.

Astronaut Scholarship

Each year the University of Minnesota is invited to put forward two students to compete for a $10,000 scholarship from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.  These students must be sophomores or juniors who show outstanding promise for careers in research in the natural or applied sciences, engineering or mathematics. No special consideration is given to students in astronautical engineering. Applicants must be U.S.

Minnesota Sea Grant Fellowship and Scholarship Opportunities

Minnesota Sea Grant has recently released information about its 2018 student scholarship and fellowship opportunities. Each opportunity is paid and gives students hands-on experience in the sciences. These opportunities include work with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the EPA, the National Marine Fisheries Service, the Great Lakes Commission, and more.

McNair Scholarship Open

The U of M Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program is now accepting applications for summer 2018. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis,ideally as soon as possible, until spots fill.. Below is key information about the McNair program.

STEM Scholarship Opportunities

For second-year students

Hollings Scholarships provide 120 successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility.  The internship, which takes place between the first and second years of the award, provides the scholars with hands-on, practical experience in NOAA-related science, research, technology, policy, management, and education activities.

Intertech Foundation STEM Scholarship

One of the Intertech Foundation’s focuses is the inspiration of young people towards the building of science, engineering and technology skills. To further that pursuit, the Foundation has announced their 2017 STEM scholarship for students interested in pursuing careers as professional software developers.

Minnesota High Tech Association Foundation Scholarship

Applications are now open for the Minnesota High Tech Association Foundation (MHTF) Scholarship. The scholarships are for Minnesota undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. These awards range from $2,500 to $5,000 awards and can include internship opportunities at MHTA member companies. MHTF supports diversity in this application and award process.

Katherine Sullivan Scholarship Open

The Katherine E. Sullivan Scholarship supports a full year of study abroad for students who will have completed at least 120 credits of academic work by the end of the spring semester 2017 and will have finished all graduation requirements by the end of the proposed study abroad experience.  Students who are in their third year of undergraduate education are especially encouraged to apply.
