This fall, acclaimed photographer Wing Young Huie (www.wingyounghuie.com) spent time with small groups of CBS undergraduates, graduates students and post-docs as part of a creative exploration of identity that will culminate in an exhibition this spring. Now, he's embarking on a photo project with the CBS Diversity Collaborative to discover and reflect the culture of the college. Some of you may have seen photos from a workshop with Wing in the CBS Student Services office (3-104 MCB). As Wing begins exploring our collegiate culture, you might be invited to participate.
Wing has already trained a handful of undergraduate and graduate students to initiate conversations that are then translated into "chalkboard pictures." Participants engage one another with a set of questions meant to spark dialogue about how we perceive ourselves and others, then snap photos of each other holding chalkboards with thoughts, phrases, or even single words that illuminate identity and culture.
