CBS Dean Candidate Student Interview Sessions

On behalf of Provost Karen Hanson, CBS students are invited to meet the candidates for the position of CBS Dean during special interview sessions. Please RSVP for one or more of the following sessions:


Monday, December 1, 3:30-4:15 pm, 300 Morrill Hall

Wednesday, December 3, 3:00-3:45 pm, 300 Morrill Hall

Friday, December 5, 11:30-12:15 pm, 238 Morrill Hall 

Tuesday, December 9, 11:30-12:15 pm, 238 Morrill Hall

As part of their time on campus, each candidate will also participate in a public forum in which they will present their vision for the biological sciences in a land-grant public research university. Students are also welcome to attend these forums, regardless of whether or not you attend a student session.

In order to protect the confidentiality of the candidates and provide each of them the maximum opportunity to disclose their interest in the position to their colleagues and respective institutions, the name of each candidate, along with their c.v., will be posted on the CBS Dean search web site ( the day before their scheduled interviews.

Please be prepared to ask questions about the candidate's qualifications, vision, and knowledge of the issues confronting higher education, and fit with the University of Minnesota. Also, remember that this is an opportunity to showcase the unique CBS culture and to promote the many unique characteristics and areas of strengths and excellence of the college and the University.

We plan to record the public forums so that anyone who is unable to attend one or more of the sessions may still have an opportunity to log onto the CBS Dean search web site to view the candidate presentations online at: Copies of the position description and the evaluation form will also be posted on the web site for your convenience. We ask for your feedback on the candidates, so please take time to complete and submit an evaluation form for each candidate.
