Next week's Journal Club will be given by Jeff Gaynes from Dr. Ameeta Kelekar's lab in the Department of Lab Medicine and Pathology and MICaB graduate program. Title: Integrating metabolism and cell death through the pro-apoptotic protein Noxa in leukemia
Jeff will present the latest findings describing novel functions of Noxa, a pro-death protein previously identified as a Bcl-2 family member. These novel functions contextualize with the altered metabolism of glucose and glutamine often seen in leukemia and most other cancers, but whose regulation and coordination with other cancer hallmarks (such as resistance to cell death) remains poorly understood.
