Do you love your major? Become a Major Mentor and share your knowledge!

Major Mentors are students who have been identified by the Center for Academic Planning & Exploration (CAPE) as excellent peer mentors in one particular area of study, their major. Major Mentors work with undergraduate students from all U of M colleges who are exploring majors and want to learn more about a specific major from a peer. Major Mentors should be prepared to answer questions like:

  • In general, what is it like to study in your major?
  • What are the courses like in your major?
  • What skills are necessary to be successful in your major?

Often times the mentee's will sit in on a class with their mentor to get a sense of what it's like to be in that major. Students also meet on campus for coffee, chat at a library, or just ask questions via email.

The Major Mentor Program is a great way to get involved on campus and make a difference!
