Federal Job/Internship Searching and Resume Writing Workshops

At these sessions, attendees will learn to:
  • Search for internships and jobs on usajobs.gov
  • Craft an effective "federal resume"
  • Complete a federal application
Presenters are Sarah Waterworth and Paula Swingley. Sarah Waterworth is the Administrative Officer at Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway (National Park Service). Sarah has held many positions (Physical Science Tech, Biological Science Tech, Admin Asst, Admin Specialist, Chief of Admin) in a variety of federal agencies (NRCS, ARS (2 labs), APHIS, NOAA, NPS (6 parks)). Paula Swingley is the Volunteer Coordinator (and previously an Administrative Assistant and Interpretation Park Ranger) at Mississippi National River and Recreation Area (National Park Service). Paula has B.S. of Environmental Design and M.S. Water Resource Science degrees from the University of Minnesota.
In advance of the workshop, create a profile on USAjobs.gov - this is a two step process that requires registering with login.gov. Fill out as much of your profile as you can but at a minimum your contact information. Bonus points for starting to build a resume/CV in USAjobs.gov or uploading a resume/CV in USAjobs.gov and/or uploading an unofficial copy of your transcript! If you have a computer/tablet available to you, please bring it along; you could follow along in your own usajobs profile, make adjustments as the presentation unfolds and get input/feedback at the end of the presentation.
