Hiring: Undergraduate Clinical Research Liaison in the Hunter Lab

Overview
The Hunter Lab (Department of Microbiology and Immunology) works in collaboration with the Adult CF Center at the University of Minnesota on various research projects aimed at understanding the microbial ecology of chronic respiratory disease. 

Applicants with be required to obtain medical clearances for this position.  Employees in this position will undergo initial online training and annual training. The position is open to students in undergraduate programs at the University of Minnesota (who meet the minimum credit requirements specified by the Student Employment Program) to apply for employment. Students in this position will be gaining direct patient experience. 

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Minnesota (minimum of 6 credits)
  • High School diploma and some college credits
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Able to work independently
  • Must be able to pass medical requirements (Vaccination and TB) required for access to clinic
  • Must be available Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm 
  • Must have a personal computer

Student responsibilities

  • Obtaining informed consent from patients to participate in research studies following IRB protocol
  • Collecting sputum samples from cystic fibrosis patients 
  • Interacting with clinical staff
  • Help prepare samples for laboratory analysis
