Hiring: Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant (Spring 2019)

An opportunity to work in the field of plant genetics in the lab of Dr. Robert Stupar, Department of Agronomy and Plant genetics, University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus. Majority of the work will be based out of lab as well as greenhouses. The successful candidate will work on following tasks:

  • Assisting with transformation pipeline
  • Making and pouring media
  • Washing dishes
  • Autoclaving biological waste
  • Harvesting mature soybeans
  • Threshing soybean pods
  • Assisting with bench work which consists of plants sampling, DNA/RNA testing, running PCR, analysis of electrophoresis samples, etc.
  • Assist with watering and maintenance of greenhouses and growth chambers

Starting Date: June 2019 to June 2020
Desired Qualifications: Some biology background preferred but not required.
Pay Range: $10.50-$13.00/hour
Hours: 10-20 hrs a week (max upto 40 hrs in summers)
