iMEN Indigenous & Males of Color Retreat: Color, Culture, Identity & Consciousness in the 21st Century

iMen Retreat 2019Registration is NOW OPEN for the iMen (Indigenous and Males of Color) Retreat! The retreat will be on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., with check-in and breakfast starting at 8 a.m. This retreat is FREE and open to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who identify as indigenous and/or a student of color at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

The purpose of the iMen: Indigenous and Male of Color Retreat is to provide male-identified students of color a place to build community, learn tips and strategies on successfully navigating the college experience, and continuing the necessary conversation around masculinity and manhood. We are aiming to accomplish these goals through an opening plenary with a keynote speaker, affinity groups and breakout sessions. There will be a closing plenary that we will use to build a collective with the participants and begin exploring “where do we go from here” as male-identified indigenous and students of color at the University of Minnesota. We will wrap the retreat with an open-mic space created to allow the participants to express themselves through different artistic mediums of their choice as a way of continuing to build community and collectivism.
