The North Star STEM Alliance is still looking for Peer Mentors for Fall 2012!

Students admitted to STEM major (upper division), transfer students, students with significant academic experiences such as internships, co-ops or undergraduate research and past North Star STEM Alliance participants are strongly encouraged to apply.

They are looking for peer mentors who are current undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Science and Engineering, College of Biological Sciences, College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts. Peer mentors will work directly with students involved in the North Star STEM Alliance to do any of the following:

  • Mentor students interested in undergraduate research
  • Plan professional development workshops and gatherings  for students
  • Provide academic support as tutors and help students set up study groups
  • Develop programs to support first year students and transfer students in your college
  • Mentor new scholars and support students involved in the Alliance
  • Attend and support annual event such as the Kick-Off and the Spring Research Symposium

Hours & Wage: Flexible hours 5-15 hours per week and the position starts at $10 per hour.
