Student Parent HELP Center

The Student Parent HELP Center is a comprehensive support service program for pregnant and parenting students. Students with children are facing a particularly difficult time due to COVID-19. Undergraduates, who tend to be the most low-income and are more likely to be single parents, are at significant risk for leaving the institution.

Please refer any student parents seeking assistance with child care referrals, child care grants, and other family services to sphc@umn.edu or 651-340-1280. Caregiving students may require accommodations and flexibility in regard to attendance, make-up work, requests for online classes due to pregnancy risk factors, and the additional stress of managing in-home schooling for children and/or potentially closed day care centers due to COVID-19. The SPHC can also provide consultation to faculty and students on what might be reasonable accommodations given the extreme circumstances and Title IX equity considerations.
