Undergraduate Research Opportunity in the Mashek Lab

The Mashek lab is seeking several undergraduate students to help with general laboratory duties and to assist in various ongoing projects.  These duties include, but are not limited to: making solutions, RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, real-time PCR, protein assays, Western blotting, cell culture, mouse genotyping, etc.  Depending upon the student there are also opportunities to become involved with specific projects within our general theme of hepatic and muscle energy/lipid metabolism and their relationship to metabolic diseases (Type 2 Diabetes, NAFLD, etc.) as well as aging and the role of environmental factors such as exercise and diet on these processes.  For more information on our laboratory see our webpage: http://masheklab.dl.umn.edu. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and dependable student who is passionate about science.  Someone that has laboratory experience is a plus, but not required.  Work study is also preferred, but not required.
