Describe something interesting or unusual about your work here:

My favorite part of my job is talking with faculty and students about the exciting research they perform. I love watching the spark in peoples' eyes when they talk about collecting frogs or charting milkweed growth. Every day I have the opportunity help these grown-up "nature kids" unravel the mysteries of our planet. I also get a big kick out of purchasing random supplies for labs. I once had to learn how to order snake venom and honey badger blood!

What do you like best or least about working on the St. Paul Campus?

I love the fact that, although I work at a very large, prestigious school, I have the opportunity to chat with people I know every time I walk across campus.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love doing amateur research on the historical medicinal uses of native Minnesota plants. I am as happy as a clam when I'm gathering weeds at my friends' cabin, making creams and tinctures, and using these concoctions to treat my family's bumps, bruises, coughs, and cold.
