CBS People: Lamar Roberts

Lamar RobertsThis CBS newcomer left the corporate world to join the Student Services team to promote social justice and racial equity.

What is your role in CBS? What does it entail?
I am the Student Services Specialist in the CBS Student Services Office. I update and manage student records, assist with logistics for events that the office plans, I order supplies for the office and also manage the Peer Advisors that work the front desk of the office (among many other projects).

What did you do prior to joining CBS? What led you to this position?
I worked for Target in the leadership team of the Nicollet Mall store in downtown Minneapolis. After realizing that I wanted to go back to school to do work that was more meaningful to me, a friend of mine sent me this job posting and I was impressed with the work the CBS Student Services office is doing regarding social justice and racial equity so I decided to apply.

What did you major in at college and why?
I majored in Marketing in the Carlson School of Management because I thought it would have the least amount of math possible. I am now a grad student in the Multicultural College Teaching and Learning Master's program in CEHD.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
I like EDM concerts and having goal-setting conversations with friends in coffee shops.

What Gophers sporting event are we most likely to find you cheering at?
I bought football tickets during my senior year and really enjoyed the experience so I'd love to see what a game would be like in the alumni seats!
