What do you do here?
I'm the Principal Office and Administrative Specialist in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior.
How long have you been at the U?
I have been working at the U since July 2014.
Describe something interesting or unusual about your work here:
Each day is different in EEB, with one consistency—coffee! I'm very proud of the barista skills I have acquired. On any given day there are flyers to design, rooms to schedule, orders to place, packages to ship, seminars to organize, and perhaps a rogue mouse has been found feasting on a faculty member's granola bar. Also, a huge bonus of working in the Ecology Building is the close proximity to the cow barn. During the fall I spent my lunch breaks with a lovely little calf I named Georgie.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I'm a big fan of going out for Saturday breakfast – pancakes, in particular, fluffy and piled high. You might find me at a drag show; RuPaul's Drag Race is one of my obsessions. I also practice the fine art of streak running (not to be confused with streaking), which involves running every day—no excuses. I'm up to five years with my current streak! My B.A. is in creative writing, so much of my free time is spent reading, writing, and then finding any and every reason to avoid editing what I have written.
Tell us more about your writing!
I primarily write short fiction and a little creative nonfiction. My writing often leans (sometimes heavily) on the satirical side. I gravitate toward magical realism and enjoy blending the ordinary with the slightly fantastic and surreal.
