Imagine you knew you were were likely to have much greater adverse reactions to one drug than to another for a condition you seeking treatment for. Or maybe that you were more likely than average to develop a particular disease in your lifetime – but could prevent it by making specific lifestyle changes. Come hear how CBS undergraduates pursued exactly these kinds of insights within their own genomes at the Journey Into the Genome Poster Session Monday, April 25 in the President’s Room in Coffman Memorial Union.
Students in Biology 4950, an experimental course focusing on personal genome analysis, will report back from a semester-long journey to this new frontier. Students will present 12 posters that illustrate the kinds of insights into your past, present and future that can found through the analysis of personal genome sequences. Students will be on hand to discuss their findings, answer any questions you have about their experience or talk with you about the prospect of you taking a similar journey to see the sights within your own genome.
