March 5: Gene Editing and 21st Century Foods – Why You WILL Want to Eat Them

GCD March 2020 event

Join the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Development for the second talk in its Leading Edge Series where you can hear from researchers on genes, cells and your future. The development of methods to introduce precise changes in the DNA in living cells is revolutionizing the life sciences. One of the first places gene editing will impact our lives is through the food we eat. On March 5, Dan Voytas will tell the story of a gene editing technology he developed and the company he founded that created the world's first gene edited food ingredient. Perry Hackett will describe how gene editing will be used in farm animals to improve animal welfare, nutrition, and the environment.
