MnDRIVE announce Transdisciplinary Research Program grants

The Office of the Vice President for Research has announced a request for proposals for transdisciplinary research projects that cross the core areas of the MnDRIVE initiative. OVPR will award approximately 10 two-year grants of up to $500,000 each for transdisciplinary projects that pursue grand challenges outlined in the MnDRIVE legislation.

The primary vision for this RFP is to engage research on a transdisciplinary basis that will include projects not only from basic and applied sciences, but also from the arts, humanities, business and policy issues that will have a positive and sustaining impact on Minnesota’s economy, environment and residents.

The current issues identified for funding include research in the following four program areas:

  • Robotics, sensors, and advanced manufacturing
  • Global food venture
  • Advancing industry, conserving our environment
  • Discoveries and treatments for brain condition

Two information sessions will be held the first week in February to answer questions about the proposal criteria and application process. Letters of Intent are due March 14, 2014; proposals are due April 21, 2014. Learn more about the MnDRIVE Transdisciplinary Research Program.
