HHMI postdoctoral teaching fellows are responsible for creating the authentic research experiences that will be used as teaching tools for transfer and non-major students. Starting with the learning objectives, they use backwards design to create researched-based teaching materials that will help students better understand the process of science, increase confidence in science, and improve scientific attitudes.
While at the University, HHMI postdocs further develop their teaching skills by teaching undergraduate classes in the University's state-of-art active learning classrooms. Many postdocs also conduct research while they are at the University.
