Tropical regions hug the equator, and come in two flavors – wet and dry. Most of our plants come from the wet tropics, but we have a few that like drier conditions as well. The majority of plant biodiversity is housed in this zone, where the temperatures are fairly stable year round. We have plants from the Amazon Basin, Africa, and the islands of Indonesia. The rooms that house or tropical collections are favorites during the sometime long winters here in Minnesota. It’s a nice break to be able to come in out of the snow and see greenery and smell flowers blooming.
