Lichens and mosses, though often overlooked, are quite amazing organisms! My research focuses on lichen and bryophyte communities, how the environment influences them, and how they impact their environment. Currently I'm working on a project with Daniel Stanton, in which we will inventory lichen and bryophyte communities in different forest types across the state of Minnesota. We will assess their biomass, water holding capacity, and pollutant uptake in order to estimate the extent of ecosystem services they provide.
