My research has dealt with monographic, floristic, and morphological/anatomical studies of lichens including growth of the symbionts. I have had extensive collecting experience in many parts of the world. Recent research is directed toward a monographic study of the lichen genus Caloplaca in North America and using lichens as indicators of air quality.
