Adjusting to college life…
I had a hard time adjusting my first year. I didn't like my science classes and felt like there were no other options out there for me because science and math is what I felt like I had been good at for such a long time. I took a psychology class to fulfill a liberal education requirement and was surprised by how much I liked it. I met with the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the major to learn more about the field and declared my major by the end of our meeting! I also found a sense of belonging by joining a student group who assisted the Admissions Office with large events and through my 3 on campus jobs. Those jobs led me to a career in higher education.
Favorite part of the job?
Meeting with students! I love hearing about the ways students have gotten to the moment that brings them into my office and helping them figure out where they're going next.
Current passions, hobbies, things that give you joy?
I love reading, and I also have been teaching myself how to write in fancy fonts. When I'm not doing one of those two things, I might be hanging out with my sister's dogs, planning my next vacation, or talking to my long distance friends on the phone.
Be on the lookout for…
The set up in my office changing. I like to rearrange often!
