I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for both undergrad and graduate school. A rival, I know! I like to think I'm living proof Badgers and Gophers can be friends.
Life before CBS…
Right after college, I worked for a software development company before going back to graduate school. Then, after graduate school I worked at the College of Saint Benedict as a residence hall director before coming to CBS to work in advising! I was an advisor for four years before stepping into my current role.
Adjusting to college life…
I was really fortunate and found great friends in my residence hall my first year. A lot of us were also involved in similar student groups, even though we studied different things. Junior and senior year I lived with my eight closest friends in a big house we rented (ask to see the picture of us in my office!), and I treasure all the conversations and laughter from those close friendships.
Favorite part of the job?
The people! Love working with CBS students, staff, and faculty. I also really like spreadsheets.
Current passions, hobbies, things that give you joy?
I am an active reader. I am on pace to beat my goal of 20 books this year, and my recommendations from recent reads are Beartown and Homegoing. I also have a spouse and two young daughters (who are hilarious and full of energy), so I read a lot of kid's books too.
Be on the lookout for...
Coffee mugs and quotes. At any given point, there are 1-4 coffee mugs in my office. I've been a daily coffee drinker since my first year in college, and now with two kiddos to keep me on my toes, that habit isn't stopping any time soon. Also, I really like to surround myself with quotes that inspire me and help me reframe or better understand situations. I've got a few up in my office, and am always adding more.
