Life before CBS…
Before joining CBS I worked as a success coach for an online school and while finishing my Master of Education program I worked as a success advisor for students on academic probation. In that role, I taught courses and advised students on topics like time management, campus resources and both personal and academic goals.
Adjusting to college life…
I was lucky enough to be part of a scholarship program that allowed me to be on campus early to take summer courses before the Fall semester. Through that program I was able to learn the campus, move in early and meet friends before freshman move in day! As college went on, I became involved on campus through various leadership roles on campus, as a career ambassador at the career development office, peer mentor for the academic success program, and as a community assistant in housing. This all lead to having lifelong friends and a career in assisting others in their own college journey. If you find something like an organization or event that looks interesting to you, go! You never know who you will meet or how it will help you find your passions during your time in college.
Favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job would be the students! I love getting to learn about each student’s passion, interests, and assist them as the work toward their goals.
Current passions, hobbies, things that give you joy?
I like eating and trying new foods and restaurants, reading, watching movies, TV shows, and historical documentaries. I enjoy attending music concerts, plays, musicals, and local comedy shows at different Twin City venues. I love traveling to different countries, states and within Minnesota learning about the history and culture (also eating great local food!).
Be on the lookout for...
Little knickknacks from my travels, my favorite is a matryoshka doll from my study abroad experience. Have a favorite travel location or experience? I would love to hear about your own travels or favorite local restaurants to try!
