Opportunities in research

Since its establishment in 2006, the NOCC program has facilitated transatlantic exchanges between students, postdocs and faculty as well as collaborative research programs through a variety of funding mechanisms.

The NOCC program supports any research but priority will given to areas that are of significance to the strategic priorities of the UiO, NMBU and UM. Priority areas include:

  • Robotics & advanced manufacturing
  • Solutions to environmental challenges
  • Food safety & security (incl. agriculture, aquaculture)
  • Sustainable energy systems
  • Bio-economy and bio-manufacturing
  • Informatics & computation (Big Data)
  • One-Health
  • Innovation in teaching and learning
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Life sciences

Solicitation for Transatlantic Research Proposals

Several 2-year project research grants will be funded through the NOCC program for transatlantic research projects involving teams from Norway (NMBU, UiO) and Minnesota (UM)(participating Colleges and Schools, see request for proposals) in the areas that of significance to the strategic priorities of the UiO, NMBU and UM listed above. A major goal of the project grants is the initiation of innovative and potentially transformative transatlantic collaborations where the partners from the different institutions each contribute complementary expertise critical to the success of the proposed project. The NOCC program expects that the project grants will be used by the teams to obtain additional funding to continue and expand the transatlantic collaborations.
