Where did you transfer from?
Normandale Community College
Why did you want to come to the University of Minnesota?
I came to the University of Minnesota because it has a good medical school and it is close to home.
What are you researching?
We are researching the expression of cytokines and CD4+ in cells of mice infected with central nervous system immune reconstitution disease. I chose this because it deals with the immune system, which is something I find important to research and to understand, especially if I become a doctor.
What have you gotten out of this experience?
I have learned a lot in the past few months from using the scientific instruments, learning various lab techniques, and reading a broad range published articles relevant to my research. This experience has influenced me to pursue more research for my personal growth.
What are your interests outside of school?
Sleeping, playing video games and playing basketball.
Do you participate in any extracurricular activities?
I am in a group called Minnesota Future Doctors (MFDs). We regularly meet to discuss our future in medicine and how we can achieve our goals.
What are you plans for the future?
I am studying to become a physician. To help me get into medical school, I will be working to increase my GPA, shadowing professionals in research labs and hospitals, and volunteering while I am at the University of Minnesota. After that, I will apply for the MCAS, and hopefully get into the medical school here.
