Outcome: Applications are reviewed and decisions made within two weeks of receipt. The three outcomes are acceptance to the program, a final decision deferred until late May, or not accepted. Decision deferrals are allowed to up date their application following a general call for applications in April that is made to fill any remaining positions for the upcoming year.
Eligibility: Applicants must -
- Have completed their last doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DDS) within 2 years of the start of the program (August 31st)
- Be United States citizens or permanent residents
- Not have carried out their graduate work in the TREM research mentor's lab
Requirement: The applicant must want to pursue an academic faculty position.
Research mentors: Current mentors are listed here. Other University of Minnesota faculty may be appropriate, but this needs to be discussed and approved by the Program Director, Carrie Wilmot (email@example.com).

Start date: The TREM program starts on August 31st each year. However, TREM Scholars are encouraged to start in the lab of their mentors earlier than this date, although TREM financial support will not begin until August 31st.
Selection criteria: These include research productivity and potential, the desire to combine independent research and teaching in an academic career (either in a graduate or undergraduate environment), and whether the applicant is from an underrepresented group in the biomedical sciences. Applicants do not have to meet all criteria to be appointed to TREM.
