Transfer Student Orientation
Transfer student orientation is a comprehensive program designed to help students make a smooth transition to the University of Minnesota. Orientation is required for all students transferring to the College of Biological Sciences (CBS) from other institutions as well as University of Minnesota coordinate campuses (Crookston, Duluth, Morris, and Rochester).
How does it work?
Transfer students are required to:
Complete university-wide online orientation. Check your University of Minnesota email for more information from Orientation and First-Year Programs.
Complete the New Student Checklist. In the checklist, students will complete their pre-orientation survey, select an orientation date, and be given information on additional steps (e.g., sending in final transcripts to the University of Minnesota Office of Admissions). Check your University of Minnesota email for more information directly from CBS.
You can find more information about orientation, overall, on the Orientation and First-Year Programs (OFYP) website.
During the required one-day, on-campus orientation, students will:
Meet individually with their assigned academic advisor.
Register for classes with the assistance of advisors and peer advisors.
Develop an understanding of degree requirements and academic expectations.
Learn about important campus resources.
Have the opportunity to tour campus.
There are 5 options offered for on-campus orientation. Space is limited and sessions fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
Session 1: Thursday, June 25, 2015
Session 2: Friday, June 26, 2015
