UROP Scholarship

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), run through the University of Minnesota Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR), provides scholarships for students to participate in faculty-mentored research projects. Student can apply for Fall, Spring, or Summer funding, with applications accepted once in the Fall and once in the Spring.

To apply for UROP funding, students are required to submit a research proposal. A detailed description of the proposal, application requirements, eligibility, and submission instructions can be found here.

Tips for your research proposal

For students applying to work with CBS faculty, your proposal will be evaluated by a team of CBS post-doctoral scholars and faculty. Specifically, your proposal will be evaluated on the following categories:

  • Background and broader significance
  • Question and hypothesis
  • Methodology
  • References
  • Overall writing quality and organization
  • Potential for student success and learning
  • Strength of faculty recommendation
