The Itasca Station has well-equipped labs and a stockroom on-site with a wide variety of field and lab equipment to offer instructors and incoming researchers. The station's specimen collections are also available for instructional and research purposes. See below for more details on what the station has to offer.
Equipment
Itasca Station offers a variety of lab and field equipment available for research and teaching use, ranging from fume hoods and -80°F freezers to water samplers and meters, motorboats, waders, and canoes. Please contact the Station Scientist at [email protected] for a copy of our equipment inventory, which offers a fairly comprehensive list of what is available at the station. Researchers have the opportunity to request use of station equipment as part of their research project application process. Researchers should bring their own consumable supplies. Equipment and supplies can also be shipped to the station ahead of your arrival.

Specimen collections
The station houses a well-developed collection of birds and mammals and a robust herbarium available for study. The station also houses collections of algae, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Contact the Station Scientist at [email protected] with any questions about our collections.
