CBS Anti-Racism Initiative
  • Summer 2020: The college convened a group of faculty, staff, and students charged with identifying structures and processes in CBS that reinforce systemic racism, surveying the current landscape of anti-racist work in the college, and developing recommendations for moving this work forward at the collegiate level. Read the College of Biological Sciences Anti-Racism Work Group Recommendations 
  • Spring 2021: The college convened two working groups and held a town hall to discuss recommendations for addressing racism and inequities.
  • Fall 2021: Three "action teams" were formed to inform efforts to implement recommendations. The action teams collected and analyzed information, identified opportunities, and laid out next steps for addressing recommendations around increasing representational diversity through recruitment and retention strategies; aligning incentives and recognition as a reflection of our values; and promoting and developing inclusive teaching practices.
