Gifts to the college may be made through the University of Minnesota Foundation website. Choose a fund to give to and make a one-time or a recurring monthly gift.

Checks may be mailed directly and must be made payable to the “University of Minnesota Foundation” with any specific instructions or designation to support the College of Biological Sciences included in the memo section of the check and/or in a separate accompanying letter. Please send to:

Donor-advised funds
Giving to the University of Minnesota from your donor-advised fund is simple. You can recommend a grant from your fund to the College of Biological Sciences by providing the following information to the sponsoring organization:

UMF federal tax ID: 41-6042488
Mailing address: P.O. Box 860266, Minneapolis, MN 55486Name of the campus, college, program, or fund where the grant should be directed.
Each sponsoring organization will have the appropriate forms to recommend these grants, which you can find online or by contacting the organization directly. Your sponsoring organization will distribute the grant directly to the University of Minnesota Foundation.

IRA charitable rollover
If you are age 70 1/2 or older, you may give up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to qualified charities without paying federal income tax on the distribution. Contact your IRA plan administrator and request a direct qualified charitable distribution from the IRA account to the University of Minnesota Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, with tax ID number 41-6042488.
