Biotechnology minor
Use biology to foster discovery and development of new products by pursuing a minor in biotechnology at the University of Minnesota. Biotechnology is one of the fastest-growing fields of science, with incredible opportunities to pursue research and careers in areas ranging from synthetic biology to genetic engineering, biomanufacturing, agricultural biotechnology or molecular biology.
In this program, you will gain knowledge and skills in a broad range of scientific areas applicable to jobs in the workforce after graduation, including technical and scientific writing, project management and quantitative skills. You will also take specialized courses on different areas of biotechnology. A key element of the minor is the experiential capstone where you can take part in directed research or an industrial internship. These unique opportunities will give you the chance to hone your skills while either pursuing your own research or working for a biotechnology company.
