What’s an impactful experience you’ve had as a student? Volunteering for a year at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital (UMMCH), where I completed more than 100 hours in an in-patient pediatric unit. I loved helping create a safe, playful space for patients, and seeing their excitement when the playroom opened was truly moving and gratifying.
How has your major played a role in your time at the U? Being in CBS as a neuroscience major, I feel that a lot of doors have opened up for me. My major has allowed me to take advantage of opportunities that fit my goals and interests, such as volunteering at UMMCH or working in a research lab among others. There are a lot of great opportunities available to CBS students!
What advice would you give to a student interested in getting involved in a similar experience? Try something new! There are a lot of great ways to get involved, but finding the ones that match your interests, goals, and passions is the most important!
