Travisano Named McKnight

Ecology, Evolution and Behavior faculty member Michael Travisano named a McKnight Distinguished University Professor.

Michael Travisano was recently named a 2018 Distinguished McKnight University Professor by the University’s Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs. Travisano is an professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior (EEB) and the BioTechnology Institute.

“Mike is is a founder of and key practitioner in the emerging field of experimental evolution, and his work has consistently opened new doors in the study of fundamental evolutionary problems,” says David Stephens, head of EEB. “I know of no one who deserves the recognition of Distinguished McKnight University Professor more than Mike.”

Travisano joined the College of Biological Sciences as an associate professor in 2007. His research focuses on understanding the causes of biological diversity and complexity. He has made fundamental contributions to the study of adaptive radiations, cooperation, speciation and the evolution of multicellularity.
