Life before CBS…
Bory comes to us from Minneapolis College where he advised students in the Power of YOU, PSEO, and Destination: Diploma to Degree programs. Prior to Minneapolis College he worked as a Financial Aid Counselor at Augsburg University assisting students and families navigating financial aid awards and ensuring compliance to federal and state regulations. In this role, Bory initiated collaborations with Multicultural Student Services,TRIO, and the advising office to ensure students could access financial aid information.

Adjusting to college life..
As someone who identifies as introverted, transitioning to college life was definitely a challenge. Making new friends, sharing spaces, and having more independence caused me to break out of my shell and take more risks. I slowly got involved on campus to make new connections and hone in on my leadership skills. This was the best decision I ever made in college! Upon joining my residential hall’s community council for the first year, I gained confidence to have more leadership roles on campus and became a CA for the next three years. I was able to shape my college experience in ways where I can look back and have no regrets. After focusing on academics, my one word of advice is branching out and getting involved!

Favorite part of the job?
Getting to know students on a personal level and helping them navigate their overall goals. During my undergraduate years, I never had a point of contact on campus to guide me through various challenges and that is the reason why I have a strong passion for supporting students in higher education. I got your back!

Current passions, hobbies, things that give you joy?
There are only two skills I am confident in which are my dancing skills and video games. I used to teach Kpop in grad school and performed in numerous shows ranging from Korea Night to St. Cloud’s global showcase hosted by the Paramount Center for the Arts. I love video games such as Pokemon Unite (Decidueye global rank 40 and rising), Genshin Impact, Super Smash Bros, Dead by Daylight and Mario Kart. I’m not saying I’m the best, but I can probably take on most people (yes these are fighting words). My dog is super cute too.

Be on the lookout for…
If we ever cross paths on campus and I don’t seem familiar with you, it’s probably because my eyesight is extremely diminishing. I’m very nearsighted (and should be wearing glasses)...Oops!
