Outsider Animals: How the Creatures at the Margins of Our Lives Have the Most to Teach Us
February 03, 2026

Why can’t we keep raccoons out of our garbage bins? What can cockroaches — yes, cockroaches — teach us about human pregnancy? And are there “good animals” and “bad animals”? Behavioral ecologist and evolutionary biologist Marlene Zuk discusses her new book about the lessons we can learn from animals that live in close proximity to us. She will explore what we can learn from them about intelligence, adaptability, and ourselves.
