Scholarships

There are many scholarships available related to undergraduate research. Of particular interest to CBS Students are the Goldwater Scholarship (December deadline), the NOAA Hollings Scholarship (January deadline), and the Astronaut Scholarship (February deadline). Students interested in these scholarships should contact Timothy Jones (natschol@umn.edu), in the National & International Scholarships Office. You can search for additional scholarships here.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

For undergraduate students interested in pursuing a research-based Masters or PhD program, you are encouraged to consider applying to the NSF GRFP. This program provides a competitive stipend and tuition support for up to three years of your graduate program. Undergraduate seniors and post-baccalaureates are eligible to apply. This application is due early Fall, and is highly competitive, so you are encouraged to start early!
